Gluteus Medius Exercise by Anna Belay

The Gluteus Medius is a very important muscle in walking, running and single leg weight-bearing, as it prevents the opposite side of our pelvis from dropping during these activities. Thus, it plays a huge role in the stability of the lower limb and pelvis.

How-To Steps:

  1. Lie on the floor/bed on your side, making sure your torso and pelvis tilt equally.
  2. Straighten your top leg and position it slightly behind the line of your body.
  3. Lift your top/straight leg up (to about 30 degrees), and make sure not to move your pelvis or arch your back.

*Repeat 10-12x and switch sides.
