Personalized Exercise Programs

Our physiotherapists are experts in assessing movement and identifying dysfunctional patterns that are often the root cause of chronic injury, or the result of a current sprain or strain. They will use this information from the assessment and combined with their knowledge of functional anatomy to select the most efficient exercises to address the current imbalance, reduce the incidence of re-injury and improve performance.

Corrective exercises like static and dynamic stretching are often prescribed to address decreases in muscle length and pain control. Self mobilization techniques like foam rolling are implemented for joints that have become stiff or have a decreased range of motion. Stability and motor control exercises can be used for developing control of the core and pelvis and functional strength exercises are often used to incorporate several of these components to prepare individuals to return to their tasks of daily living.

Your physiotherapist will provide you with a personalized exercise program that incorporates these types of corrective and functional strengthening exercises. They will ensure that you confident in implementing the program independently at home and regularly reassess your technique and gauge your progress. Exercises will be progressed as you are able and ready, with the ultimate goal of restoring function and returning to your activities confidently!
