A Bit About Our Chiropractor:

“Hi, my name is Rachel. I’m excited to be back in Waterloo and be apart of the SOS team. I’m what they call a “chiro kid”, my dad is a chiropractor, and I grew up helping out at his clinic.

Naturally, both my sister and I followed in his footsteps. We went to chiropractic college together and she graduated the year before me. I’ve always enjoyed staying active and played competitive soccer and badminton growing up.

Now I stick to soccer and running. I attended Cameron Heights for high school, went off to UOIT for kinesiology and finished off at CMCC in North York for chiropractic.

Over my chiropractic training I had the opportunity to work with a diverse population including refugees, students, adults and children with intellectual disabilities and seniors. This experience has inspired me to be an open and inviting ally in providing chiropractic care to every individual in my community.

When I’m not in clinic you can find me re-watching my favourite TV shows on Netflix, chasing after my pandemic pup or enjoying the great outdoors.”

Patient Testimonials

“I had a sudden onset of pain in my foot and ankle that was stopping me from participating in my usual exercise routine and social activities. I was treated at SOS Physiotherapy by Rachel Goldsworthy. I was impressed by her knowledge & friendly manner. With a few treatment sessions and a set of exercises to do at home, my pain had gone within a few weeks! Holly at reception was very friendly & helpful as well”~ S. Mawson
“I switched to SOS after 10 months of treatment at another clinic where I experienced minimal improvement for sciatica/low back pain. Thanks to Rachel’s expert treatment and care, after 6 just weeks I was feeling really well and moving much better than I have in ages. I highly recommend Rachel for anyone experiencing any low back issues.”~D. Pickles

Chiropractic Care:

Chiropractic-SOS-Physiotherapy-Elmira-Waterloo-Kitchener-ON

Chiropractic is a patient-centered, non-invasive, hands-on regulated healthcare profession focused on the treatment of conditions affecting your spine, muscles, joints, and nervous system.

Our Chiropractor, Dr. Rachel Goldsworthy, is a primary healthcare professional with training that centers around the diagnosis and manual treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. She uses the best available evidence and clinical experience to diagnose issues that affect your body’s movement and work with you to determine the best treatment to relieve your pain and restore function. Chiropractors in Ontario can request radiological examinations and interpret the studies. If appropriate, she may use x-rays to help guide her treatment plan for you.

Rachel is experienced in providing symptomatic relief for patients with acute and
chronic conditions, such as:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Headache
  • Strains and sprains (such as a rotator cuff tear or rolled ankle)
  • Work and sports-related injuries
  • Pain associated with arthritis

On your first visit with Rachel, she will take a history, perform an examination, and establish a diagnosis. Then she will work together with you to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that aligns with your preferences and lifestyle. Common treatments she employs include: manual therapy, soft tissue therapy, electronic modalities such as cold laser therapy, customized therapeutic exercise programs, self-management tools and techniques, advice, and education.

One of the most well-known treatments a chiropractor utilizes is spinal manipulation therapy (SMT) also called an “adjustment.” When preforming an adjustment, chiropractors use their hands to apply a controlled force to your joint and guide it through its range of motion. This action restores your joint’s natural movement and improves its function. When applied to your spine it is called SMT, when applied to other joints in your body, such as those in your wrist or ankle it is called extremity manipulation therapy (EMT).
