Brugger’s Posture Stretch Demonstrated by Physiotherapist Alison Shaw
Use the Brugger’s posture stretch as a stretch break, or with shoulder/neck pain from work/sitting at a desk, etc! It stretches the pectoral (chest) muscles and the shoulder muscles! If you find yourself with a sore neck and shoulders rolled forward, then this is a great stretch to do throughout your day.
How to do this exercise:
- Stand up straight with your shoulder blades together and down (away from your ears) and arms at your side.
- Open your hands and face your palms forward.
- Slowly turn your thumbs away from you, squeeze your shoulder blades together and hold that position for 5-10s
*Alternatively instead of holding, you can do that motion as reps, opening and closing your chest.

*Never do an exercise that causes you pain*
