Suitcase Carry Exercise by Physiotherapist Adam Hanton-Fong
The suitcase carry exercise is great for core stability, grip strength, shoulder stability, posture, AND balance! By resisting the urge to lean, you strengthen the muscles that keep your body stable during everyday activities.
How to do this exercise:
- Hold a weight in one hand and stand tall.
- Walk slowly while keeping your shoulders level and your core engaged—avoid leaning to one side.
- Switch hands and repeat.
*2–3 sets of 20–40 metres (or 30–60 seconds) per side.
*Choose a weight that is challenging but allows you to maintain good posture throughout.

*Never do an exercise that causes you pain*
