Upper Back Wall Angel Exercise

Upper Back Wall Angel Exercise by Physiotherapist Coulton Roe

This is a great exercise for upper back mobility, and postural strength. The Wall Angel is easy to do almost anywhere and really helps with a stiff back or poor posture.

  1. Stand with your back against a wall, we want to maintain 3 points of contact (your head, your shoulder blades, and your hips).
  2. Maintain a nice tall stance, and try to get your arms to your side against the wall with your elbows bent to 90 degrees.
  3. Slide those arms up the wall, without allowing anything to lift off! It’s not about how far you move!!

Reminders: Don’t let the lower back extend off the wall*.

*This should not be a painful movement.
