The exercise I am going to do is a self suboccipital muscle release. This exercise is a great way to release the muscles at the base of the skull and can be helpful to reduce headaches and neck pain, especially after a long day at the computer! It’s super easy and well worth the 2 minutes in your day to do.

How-To Steps:

  1. Use a “Peanut” as pictured or take two tennis balls and tape them together or put them in a sock and tie the end
  2. Place the balls at the base of your skull while lying on your back
  3. If you find the balls are sliding you can place a small rolled hand towel between the tennis balls and your upper back to keep the balls from sliding
  4. Perform a small “yes” nodding motion up and down to massage the muscles at the base of your skull for about 1-2 minutes at a time.
